White space Wednesday

A while ago Alyson from Unruly things invited me to join White Space Wednesday. Even though I've always meant to take pictures using the negative space it just never happened. So an opportunity presented itself while I was making an apple crumble for dessert tonight. Now I'm into it, hopefully I will be able to make more time for taking more photos.

Un tres bon weekend!

Fabulous weekend. Went biking, to the park, spent a lot of time outside with friends. The wee man lost his second upper tooth this weekend. If you look at the last photograph you can see he's got the vampire thing going on.

This morning's breakfast, fresh out of the oven cinnamon and raisin brioche.

Happy 7th birthday my sweet boy

I took this picture last night as my beautiful 6 year old son slept. His last night as a 6 year old, only hours away from turning 7.

How did this aging thing happen? When did I tell you that you could turn 7?

When did you turn into this beautiful, funny, intelligent, little man that can tell me actual jokes that I can laugh at and dance with me to funny songs on the radio?

Thank you for still letting me run my fingers through your hair and hold and kiss you in public. I love it when we sit on the metro and you automatically grab for my hand to be closer to you.

I'm so proud of you and the person you are becoming.

I love you more.

Steps taken

This is how many steps I walked on Mother's Day. I know this because I received this handy dandy little pedometer as a gift.

I have to say that I LOVE it! I love seeing how many steps I take in a day. Granted it still has to be calibrated to my stride length, but I'm loving the statistics of it all. My goal is to walk about 10,000 steps per day.

I was amazed at how easy it was to get to this amount. Today because I was at work I didn't do nearly as many, but I will go for a walk this evening and it should easily pass my projected goal.

The guys really know the way to my heart. Through gizmos.

Happy, happy birthday Shel and Ella

Today Ella turns 7. Shelby turns 7 on Wednesday. So close. Almost twins.

We're off to their favorite jungle gym this afternoon and then celebrating with cake and friends.

So much to do before then. Pick up the cake and balloons, run to the post office to pick up birthday packages, go to the market for food, cleaning, buy wine (for the big children, of course). I love birthdays (well not my birthday).

Hopefully all will go well and not too many birthday tantrums. There was a little almost tantrum last night. The husband and I took the wee man on a surprise birthday present mission. We thought we would surprise him by going to Sports Experts and picking out some Heelys.

BIG MISTAKE.

He was having nothing to do with it. He didn't want a pair of shoes for his birthday present. Didn't matter that they have cool wheels. They are still shoes and not a proper birthday present. Needless to say we left the shop without the Heelys. I also think that they made him a little nervous. He likes his scooter where he can hold on. He is a safety conscious child. So we ran upstairs to the toy shop and bought $100 worth of bionicles.

Today we are going to upgrade his scooter with a shiny new blue one. I get more excited about presents than the wee man.
